Irrigation Maintenance & Winterizing
Our winters are mild most of the time, until a hard freeze cracks a backflow preventer overnight. Seasonal service keeps the system efficient in summer and protected in winter.
Seasonal checkups through the year
Not sure what shape your system is in? Start with an irrigation inspection: we run the zones, check each sprinkler and give you a breakdown of necessary repairs.
Spring start-up
Turn the system back on, check every zone for leaks and broken heads, clean filters, and set the schedule for warm-season turf coming out of dormancy.
Summer checkup
July and August heat shows every weak spot. We adjust heads, check coverage on brown patches, and tune run times so you aren't overwatering.
Fall winterizing
Shut down and drain or protect exposed parts, insulate the backflow preventer, and set the controller to off or a low winter schedule.
Freeze prep for Alabama winters
Central and East Alabama typically see a handful of nights below freezing each winter, and an occasional hard freeze. The most exposed parts of a system are the backflow preventer and any above-ground piping. Water left inside can freeze, expand, and split brass and PVC. Winterizing protects those parts and is far cheaper than replacing them in spring.
Lake homes that sit empty in winter need extra attention. See Lake Martin service for lake-intake systems.

Maintenance plan coming soon
Planned benefits
We are putting together a maintenance plan for our customers. Planned benefits include:
- Free service calls
- A discount on every repair
- A discount on new installations, such as sprinkler additions or landscape lighting
Want to hear when it launches? Send us a request and ask to be notified, or call 334-502-5440.
Found a problem during a checkup? We handle repairs on the same visit when we can. Landscape lighting can be checked at the same time; see lighting maintenance.
Start with an inspection or a service call
Sprinkler problems? Book an irrigation inspection and we'll run the system and give you a breakdown of necessary repairs. Repairs, new systems, commercial properties or lighting? Request a service call and we'll assess the job on site. Inspections and service calls carry a fee.
